    Retired History Professor William Cohen Dies

    Dr. William Cohen of Holland, Michigan, a professor emeritus of history who retired in 2001 after teaching at Hope for 30 years, died on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020. He was 84.

    Francisco Jiménez to Present Hispanic Heritage Month Lecture Sept. 23

    365体育娱乐官网Dr. Francisco Jiménez, professor emeritus in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Santa Clara University, will discuss his autobiographical book “The Circuit: Stories from the Life of a Migrant Child” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. virtually with Hope College.

    The De Pree Art Center and Gallery at Hope College will be featuring the virtual exhibition “Luis Sahagun: Lo Que Grita Mi Piel” (“That Which My Skin Screams”) on Tuesday, Sept. 15, through Thursday, Oct. 15, in conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month.

    A major, multi-year grant to Hope College from the National Science Foundation (NSF) will help meet the national demand for engineers by providing scholarships and supplemental programs for academically talented students with high financial need who plan to pursue careers in engineering.

Hill, who is a senior fellow of the Property and Environment Research Center and professor emeritus of Wheaton College, will present “Stewardship for Everyone: An Economist’s Proposal for Environmental Health” on Monday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. through a livestreamed event hosted by the Markets & Morality student organization at Hope College.

    The Children’s After School Achievement (CASA) program at Hope College will work with its elementary-age students remotely this fall with additional support from the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area.
